An e-learning platform for a leading business school

We took the reins of CESA for Life — the continuing-education platform of one of Colombia's most respected business schools — and turned it from a flat, directionless catalog into a modern platform with AI-powered personalized learning recommendations, growing the team from 2 to 9 people and working as one team with the client, across four countries.

The challenge

The existing platform wasn't worthy of the CESA brand: a flat catalog with no visual identity or product direction, sitting on a legacy codebase that made every change expensive.

And the project started with a clear vision — a learning platform worthy of CESA — that had yet to be translated into actionable requirements. We had to discover what to build before we could build it — and deliver it with a team that, counting the client in Colombia, spanned four countries.

The solution

We took over project leadership within weeks of joining, and the first job was getting the house in order: working side by side with CESA to land that vision as real, prioritized requirements, and reworking the technical foundation so we could build on it with confidence.

On that foundation the team grew from 2 to 9 people — five engineers and three UX/UI designers across Bolivia, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, under one technical, delivery and design-direction lead. As part of the project board, we decided alongside CESA what to build and what not to, translating their needs into product, iteration after iteration.

We built the recommendation engine — an LLM with RAG that turns each user's answers and goals into personalized learning paths — alongside digital credentials and online, hybrid and bootcamp formats.

Results

The redesign speaks for itself: from a flat catalog to a digital experience worthy of the brand, now in production and in use by the CESA community — course catalog, digital credentials, and AI-personalized learning paths.

The platform grew beyond what was planned for: the academy targeted Latin America, yet registrations arrived from as far as Europe. And the close relationship with the client — understanding their needs and turning them into a useful product — became the engine of the project.
